Fastest car in the world

On the previous tutorial, which was about drawing a sports car, I mentioned that maybe I should do a post about the fastest cars in the world. So here is a list of the five, or at least five of the fastest super cars in the world. I say “at least” because there’s a big debate on wich car is the fastest. Some claim the their car is the fastest and others say that their’s is. Anyhow, here we go.

5. SSC Ultimate Aero

This is a supercar out of the United States that actually held the official record of the fastest car in the world for some time. It took it over the Bugatti Veyron a few years ago until a newer more powerful version of the Veyron (wich will come up later on the list) came out.

The Ultimate aero has a twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 1183 hp. It’s top speed is 256 mph or 412 kph.

4. 9ff GT9-R

9ff is a Porsche tuner (one of many) that makes some really crazy cars and this is one of them. It’s based on the “regular” 987 hp 9ff GT9 which the company thought wasn’t enough. This newer car produces 1120 hp from it’s flat 6 cylinder engine, also with two turbos.

The top speed of this crazy German car is 257 mph or 413.6 kph.

3. Koenigsegg Agera R

When the CCX went out of production Koenigsegg came out with the Agera R. The CCX was already fast, but the newer car always has to be faster. So they set about breaking some records. Some of these records are: 0-300 km/h in 14.53 sec, 300-0 km/h in 6.66 sec, 0-200 mph in 17.68 sec, 200-0 mph in 7.28 sec.

The Agera R is powered by a 5 litre V8 bi-turbo engine developing about 960 hp. It’s claimed top speed is 273 mph or about 440 kph. Though this has never been proven one Agera R has been registered to reach 260.7 mph or 420 kph. Wich is still pretty fast!

2. Hennesey Venom GT

It is actually a very modified Lotus Exige. So modified that it’s no longer a Lotus. It’s a Hennesey Venom GT, Duh!  Hennesey is famous for tuning fast cars and making them even faster. Vipers, Corvettes, Ferraris, you name it. Although it is officially considered a tunner car, the Venom GT  it’s still eligible for  the fastest production car in the world.
It is powered by a Twin-Turbo V8 Chevy engine developing 1244 hp. It holds a couple of records like the 0 – 300 km/h in 13.63 sec. ( Guinness World Record) and the 0 – 200 mph in 14.51 sec. Both records taken over the Agera R. It actually i s,or was, the fastest car in the world. With a top speed of 265.7 mph or 427.5 kph.

1. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

Originally made to be the undisputed king of speed in the car world, the Bugatti Veyron is getting a bit old. It’s been about eight or seven years since it firs came out and now it is facing huge competition for the title of fastest car. So much in fact that it was relegated to second place for some time by the Ultimate Aero. So Bugatti decided to make a better, faster, more powerful version just to take back the record and hence, the title. And so they did.

But! Yes, there’s a but. The Guinness World of Records, as the official mediator, took the record away from the Veyron because they found out it had been modified. Apparently Bugatti took of a limiter during the test ,allowing the car to reach it’s top speed. This made the Venom GT the official record holder. This test happened actually during the filming of a Top Gear (Tv show) episode.

But! Yes, there’s another but. Some say that the record has been given back to Bugatti and the Veyron. This hasn’t been confirmed though. This is why I said that the Venom GT is or was the fastest car in the world.

But! Yes, there’s a third but. We are giving the number one spot to the Veyron for been such an incredible car. Incredible because it is powered by a W16 engine (yep, W) with four turbos! Yes, four turbos! It’s output is 1200 hp. This is all good for 267.8 mph or 431 kph.

Thanks for visiting. Until next time.
